In building construction, roof tiles are an indispensable part of the house, as they not only achieve effective drainage, but also have the function of sound insulation and heat insulation. It can be seen that the role of roof tiles is very significant.
But with the continuous upgrading of production technology and processes, there are more and more types of roof tiles commonly used, which brings a very difficult choice to many friends without building experience. Today, we will give you a brief introduction based on several common materials of roof tiles, hoping that you can find a suitable roof tile for yourself.
Firstly, roof tiles are roughly divided into cement tiles, asphalt tiles, colored steel tiles, resin tiles, and glazed tiles based on their materials.
1. Cement tiles, also known as concrete tiles, can maintain their original color on the finished surface or be painted to create a unique appearance. They also have good load-bearing capacity and are relatively cheap compared to other tiles. However, the self weight of cement tiles is relatively heavy, so there are certain requirements for the structure of our roofs. For some lightweight roofs, this type of cement tile cannot be used.
2. Asphalt tiles, also known as fiberglass tiles or asphalt felt tiles, are mainly made of asphalt and have advantages such as sound insulation, noise reduction, diverse colors, convenient construction, wind resistance, dust prevention, self-cleaning, corrosion resistance, and fire prevention.
In addition, the waterproof performance of asphalt tiles can be said to be the best among all tiles, as it is made of a waterproof roll material; However, the disadvantages of asphalt tiles are easy aging, short service life, and the covering method must use bonding and nailing. However, on cast-in-place concrete roofs, due to the difficulty of nailing, it mainly relies on bonding and is not very reliable.
3. Color steel tile is actually a type of metal tile, but its specifications and dimensions are relatively large. It has advantages such as multiple colors and styles, light weight, fast construction, flexible and convenient installation, low cost, etc. Its disadvantage is that it is easy to corrode, requires regular maintenance, has poor insulation and sound insulation effects, weak wind resistance, and poor snow pressure resistance. This type of tile is generally suitable for simple short-term work shed roofs.
4. Resin tiles, divided into natural resin tiles and synthetic resin tiles, are commonly used for self built roofs. Synthetic resin tiles have strong load-bearing capacity, impact resistance, and corrosion resistance.
However, the durability, high temperature resistance, and waterproofing of resin tiles are not ideal, and due to thermal expansion defects, the spacing requirements for purlins are strict in design, making them unsuitable for flat roof large-span roofs.
5. The biggest advantage of glazed tiles is their strong adaptability to climate, high strength, good waterproof performance, high glossiness, diverse colors, and rich colors. They are also commonly used roof tiles in the market at present; The disadvantage is that the cost is slightly higher and the process is complex.
Based on the above, each type of tile has its advantages and disadvantages. Just choose a tile that is suitable for your home decoration according to different functions, colors, and requirements.
